People in Punjab are working hard to break the Bhagwant Mann government's policy of free electricity. People are getting two meters installed in their homes to ensure that their single meter bill does not exceed 600 units. Simultaneously, in order to reduce the load on the house, people are visiting the Powercom office in order to take full advantage of the free electricity scheme. Employees are also taken aback by the growing crowd in the office. They have now informed the senior officers of this. The senior officers have made some progress in this regard. Until now, there has been no restriction on installing different meters in a house based on the floor.

In two months, the Punjab AAP government will provide 600 units of free electricity to every household. If the connection is up to one kilowatt, then only the additional unit must be billed if the bill exceeds this amount. If the connection load is greater than one kilowatt, or greater than 600, the full bill must be paid.

People are having two meters installed in their homes. In such a case, the range of their free power unit will be doubled, i.e. 1200. Then they use twice as much electricity in the same house, but it is still free per bill. Similarly, if the connection is upgraded to one kilowatt, they will only have to pay for additional units above 600. Powercom supervisor Gurdarshan Singh in Bathinda confirmed that applications for approximately 200 new metres have begun to be received, in addition to the previous 60.

First, CM Bhagwant Mann announced that every house would receive 300 units of free electricity per month. 600 units of electricity will be provided for free in a single bill. Only if they spend more than this amount will SC, BC, Freedom Fighters, and BPL families be required to pay a bill for units above 600. The general category, on the other hand, will be required to pay the entire bill if it exceeds 600.

There was a commotion about the Mann administration messing with the general category. Then, Power Minister Harbhajan Singh clarified that the discount will only be available for connections with a load of up to 1 kilowatt. If there is a connection of more than this, the full bill for spending more than 600 units must be paid. Families who pay income taxes will also be excluded from the benefit. This includes the SC category as well.
