In a horrific development, to oncoming trains collided with each other at Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab at around 4 AM on Sunday. The accident caused the engine of a goods train to overturn on the track and a passenger train to get trapped by it. According to reports, 2 locomotive pilots were injured in the accident. The injured have been referred to the Rajindra Hospital in Patiala.
According to the information received, this accident happened near New Sirhind station of DFCC track made for goods trains. Two trains loaded with coal were already standing at the scene of the incident. This morning, the engine of a goods train collided with another goods train causing the engine to overturn. The engine then got stuck in the tracks of passenger train, Summer Special (04681) going from Ambala to Jammu Tawi. In the accident, the bodies of the goods train also climbed over each other.
The collision resulted in intense panic among the passengers. As per reports, 2 loco pilots were injured in the accident who have been identified as Vikas Kumar and Himanshu Kumar, residents of Saharanpur. Vikas suffered a head injury while Himanshu suffered a back injury. They were admitted to Civil Hospital Fatehgarh Sahib with the help of an ambulance and after recieving first aid, they were referred to Patiala.
On the other hand, the Ambala to Ludhiana line has come to a complete standstill. Senior officials of railways, GRP and RPF including DRM of Ambala division have also reached the spot.
