Unlock 5: Punjab govt issues guidelines for reopening of schools from October 15

Punjab Schools Reopening-of-Schools

Punjab government is taking steps towards unlocking the economy for phase 5. The state government on Wednesday has issued a set of guidelines for schools to resume its operations amid the pandemic from October 15. 

Schools need to follow these conditions:

1. To begin with, only the students from classes 9th to 12th may be allowed. 

2. Schools shall be opened only for three hours a day. 

3. Where the number of students is more, teachers may be called in two shifts of three hours. 

4. All the safety measures/sanitization etc. will be adhered to.

5. The minimum distance, between the one student and another, shall be as per the SOP issued by the Health Department. On average, there will not be more than 20 students in a section to attend the classes.

6. No two students should be allowed to sit on the same bench and the minimum distance between the two benches shall be adhered to. 

7. The other protocols like using sanitizers, wearing masks, etc. shall be followed strictly. 


Last month, when Centre govt-issued guidelines regarding Unlock 5 it left the decision onto State/UT governments to plan for the reopening of schools in a staggered manner.
