Punjab Govt. issued new orders on Sunday providing additional responsibilities to newly appointed Chief Principal Secretary to Punjab CM, Shri V.K. Singh, IAS. He was transferred as Special Chief Secretary to the CM, Punjab and in addition Special Chief Secretary-cum-Financial Commissioner, Cooperation. The responsibilities were previously assigned to K.A.P. Sinha, IAS, who has now been relieved of the additional charges and of the responsibilities of Principal Resident Commissioner (NRI Affairs), Punjab Bhawan, New Delhi. K.A.P. Sinha is a prominent and reputed IAS officer, therefore this sudden transfer of the duties has raised curious speculations among the bureaucrats.

V.K. Singh, IAS was most recently appointed as Chief Principal Secretary to the Punjab Chief Minister. The post had been vacant since the previous occupant of the office, A Venu. Prasad’s retirement in July 2023. Since the vacancy, no additional charges of the post were given to any IAS officer either.
