Punjab and Haryana have come to loggerheads over a water dispute. Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday penned a letter to Haryana CM Nayab Saini. CM Mann, in his letter, wrote that he will not give additional water to Haryana. "BJP is doing injustice to Punjab. It is also conspiring against Punjabis. BJP wants to forcibly loot Punjab's water. I will not let injustice happen to the people of Punjab under any circumstances," CM Mann wrote in his letter.

The issue of water has been heated up between Punjab and Haryana for the last two days. Punjab has made it clear that Haryana has used its share of water. At the same time, it is now demanding additional water. It is still being given water on humanitarian grounds. In this issue of water, BBMB (Bhakra Beas Management Board) has written a letter to the Union Power Ministry demanding appropriate action. CM Mann has refused to release more water to Haryana, saying that the neighbouring state had already utilised 103% of its allocated share and accused the BJP of exerting pressure on the Punjab government to meet Haryana’s demands.
