While the heat wave is continuously increasing in Punjab. The average maximum temperature in the state has increased by 1.6 degrees Celsius. This is close to normal, but in many districts the temperature is being recorded 2 to 4 degrees above normal.
The highest heat was recorded in Bathinda, where the mercury reached 43.6 degrees Celsius. But there are chances of relief from tomorrow. According to the Meteorological Center, the heat wave is being seen less this month. The reason behind this is the activation of the western disturbance.
Due to western disturbances becoming active at intervals of a few days, the weather of Punjab is changing again and again. While the heat is intense in May, this time there is relief from the heat due to continuous rains and strong winds.
According to the report released by the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature was recorded at 41.6°C in Ludhiana, 41.5°C in Faridkot, and 41.4°C in Patiala, while the temperature in Chandigarh also remained at 40.5°C.

Bathinda: Currently 32°C with hazy sunshine. Today's high is expected to reach 44°C, with a low of 31°C. The heat poses a danger of dehydration and heatstroke if exposed for extended periods.
Ludhiana: Currently 33°C and sunny. The temperature is expected to peak at 43°C today, with a low of 28°C. The heat will be dangerous; minimize outdoor activity.
Jalandhar: Currently 32°C with hazy sunshine. Expected a high of 43°C and a low of 27°C today; dangerous heat conditions persist.
Patiala: Currently 33°C and sunny. Expected temperatures to rise to 43°C today, with a low of 26°C today. Sharp sunshine along with hot weather conditions.
Hot winds and dry weather have affected life.
The Meteorological Department did not issue an alert today. Due to this, an increase in temperature may be seen today. After that, the temperature in most of the state's cities may reach beyond 40°C.
The weather will change again tomorrow
At the same time, on May 16, the Meteorological Department predicted thunderstorms, lightning, and light rain in the districts of southwestern Punjab—Bathinda, Muktsar, Faridkot, Mansa, Sangrur, Moga, Patiala, Fazilka, etc. A yellow alert has been issued for these districts. Due to which there are chances of a slight drop in the temperature of the state.
