Multiple districts of Punjab on Saturday night witnessed a severe thunderstorm. The thunderstorm was so strong that multiple iron poles in residential and commercial areas collapsed. Deaths were also reported in Jalandhar and other districts of Punjab due to strong thunderstorms on Saturday night. In Jalandhar, many areas remained without electricity for many hours. In fact, a few areas of Jalandhar got electricity back after 1 am late night. Punjab Electricity Cut Today
Several regions across Punjab are experiencing electricity outages today due to both scheduled maintenance work and damage caused by last night's thunderstorm. High-speed winds led to the collapse of electric poles and, in some cases, fires at power grids, severely disrupting the electricity supply. The Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has confirmed that efforts are ongoing to restore power, but many areas continue to remain in the dark.
Power Cut in Jalandhar Today
On May 25 i.e. on Sunday, electricity will remain suspended in various parts of the city. From 12 PM to 4 PM, the 11 kV feeders—Varyana-1, Gupta, Kartar Valve, Hillran, and Juneja Forging—connected to the 66 kV Leather Complex substation will be shut down, affecting areas like Kapurthala Road, Varyana, and the Industrial Complex.
Additionally, supply from the 66 kV Focal Point substation via feeders such as Punjabi Bagh, Udyog Nagar, Canal-1, Randhawa Masanda, Shankar, and Gurdwara Shiv Nagar will be off from 9 AM to 5 PM.
Power Cut in Ludhiana Today
According to SDO Shiv Kumar at the Cantonment Mohalla power station, electricity supply in areas around Meera Packers will be disrupted from 10 AM to 6 PM due to critical equipment maintenance. The 11 kV Kutbewal and Hemkunt feeders will be shut down as a safety measure during this period.
Electricity cut in Kotkapura today
Engineer Iqbal Singh, SDO of the Sub-Urban Subdivision PSPCL Kotkapura, announced that all 11 kV feeders from the 132 kV Kotkapura-2 substation will be offline from 12 PM to 5 PM today for maintenance. Affected areas include Jaito Road, Purana Shehar, Bathinda Road, Moga Road, Aman Road, Pratap Singh Nagar (partially), Prem Nagar, Ladkiyan Wala School, Kapoor Patrika Street, and Ramgarhia Mohalla.
Moga Electricity Cut Today
A fire broke out at the Singh Wala power grid following last night's sudden storm and rain, severely affecting the electricity supply in the region. While PSPCL officials have yet to confirm the incident officially, reports suggest that power may remain disrupted in multiple areas until the evening of May 25.
