It has been just a few days since the Ludhiana West By-election results were announced, in which AAP's Sanjeev Arora won the polls. Now, it seems like Punjab is all set to undergo another by-election. The buzz of another Punjab By-election has erupted after the death of Dr. Kashmir Singh Sohal, the sitting Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Tarn Taran. Dr. Sohal passed away on Friday morning after a prolonged battle with cancer. He was undergoing treatment at Fortis Hospital in Amritsar and breathed his last at his residence.
As per sources, Punjab could see voting in Tarn Taran before December 2025. Dr. Sohal, a physician by profession, was elected for the first time in 2022. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed deep sorrow over the loss, calling Dr. Sohal a “dedicated and hardworking leader.” In a social media message, Mann extended condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul’s peace.
As of now, the Election Commission is yet to make an official announcement, but the Tarn Taran by-poll before December appears certain.
