Punjab: The Punjab government approved an excise policy on 08th June, which resulted that lower liquor prices in the province. Simultaneously, following the publication of revised rates from sources in response to the issuance of the excise policy, liquor is now available in Punjab for less than half the price. People in Punjab now be able to purchase beer at a 30-35% percent discount from i. e. 01 July.

According to sources, the retail price of beer is currently Rs 1,800 per barrel. This carton of beer may now be purchased for Rs.700. According to this, a bottle will cost between Rs 90 and Rs 100. Whiskey basic beers, such as Royals tags, were previously priced at Rs 7500-9200, but are now available for Rs 2500-4000. Their prices are also being reduced by 50%.

At the same time, premium whiskey prices in Punjab have been slashed by 40% to 50%. It's also worth noting that the prices of imported scotch whiskey (Black Label, Glen Moray, Johnnie Walker, and so on) brands that retail for Rs. 1500-10000 per bottle have no chance of being reduced in value if they're imported and subjected to customs duty.

The Punjab government, as well as liquor lovers, would gain from the drop in these rates. Because alcohol is often inexpensive in Chandigarh and smuggled into Punjab from there.

However, under the new regulation, liquor is now available in Punjab at even lower prices than in Chandigarh. This would automatically reduce liquor smuggling in Punjab while also increasing income.
