In fact, Ropar's Chitkara University was submerged in water due to a breach in the SYL. 2000 students were stranded due to the flood-like situation. The situation was so serious that Indian Army was called in by the district administration and later stranded students were rescued. Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann also appealed to the people of the state to not panic and assured help from the government. Furthermore, Punjab Chief Secretary Anurag Verma called a high-level meeting of all the senior officers and regional officers to discuss the state's preparedness to counter a potential flood. In fact, Verma called another meeting on Tuesday as well. With so many developments going on in India, True Scoop brings you what has actually happened in Punjab in the past 24 hours-

On Tuesday, the people of Punjab were relieved from continuous rain. The Meteorological Department did not issue any kind of alert for rain, but there may be rain in some parts of East Malwa. On the other hand, the situation has become critical due to the breach of Budda Darya in Ludhiana and Dhussi Dam in Jalandhar. At the same time, water has also been released from Harike Hades. After releasing water from Harike, water started filling in the low-lying areas. The district administration has already evacuated the low-lying areas and sent them to safer places. On the other hand, after the release of water from Harike, an alert has also been sounded in Fazilka, but the situation there is still stable.

Furthermore, water came on the road on Tajpur Road in Ludhiana due to the breach of Budda Darya dam. Reportedly, water overflowed from the river and started filling the adjacent residential areas like Guru Ram Das Colony, CMC Colony, Village Kakka, etc. Water has been filled up to 3 to 5 feet in the area. Apart from this, reports suggest that the Dhussi dam has also been breached in Mandala near Sultanpur Lodhi in Punjab. Water has entered the villages. As per reports, the Dhussi dam was breached by the water of Satluj.

It was also reported that the Dhussi dam breached at two places in Lakhe Diyan Channa in the Lohian area of the Shahkot sub-division of Jalandhar along the Sutlej River. Meanwhile, a youth trapped in the flow of water in Lohian got washed away while taking out his bike. Nothing is known about the young man yet. The NDRF team's operation is going on since late at night to rescue the people.

Notably, the flood-like situation saw AAP's newly appointed MP of Jalandhar Sushil Rinlku leading from the front. Jalandhar MP Sushil Rinku and Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr Vishesh Sarangal saved life of a family in the village falling in the Ludhiana district on humanitarian grounds. Both the MP and Deputy Commissioner were overseeing rescue works in Phillaur Sub Division when they got an emergency message that a family has been trapped in village Uccha Khera Bet on the bank of Satluj.
