Punjab: Navjot Singh Sidhu to appear in Ludhiana Court today, will testify in Bharat Bhushan Ashu’s case

Navjot Singh Sidhu, Former President of Punjab Congress will be appearing in the Ludhiana Court today as he has been summoned as a witness. After various refusals of the former president to appear in court citing health as the reason, a production warrant against him has also been released by the court of CJM Sumit Makkar. Navjot Singh Sidhu has complained about the same in the high court. Furthermore, an application that was filed by him to record the statement through video conferencing has also been canceled by the court.

For the information, Navjot Singh Sidhu has to appear as a witness to testify in the case filed by DSP Balwinder Singh Sekhon against Bharat Bhushan Ashu. Bharat Bhushan Ashu was earlier the Food Supplies Minister. As the demand of Navjot Sidhu to testify through video conferencing has got canceled, he has now requested high security before appearing in court. SSP Patiala and the government of Punjab have assured the same.

Before appearing in the Ludhiana court, Navjot Singh Sidhu wrote a letter to jail superintendent regarding the security as his Z+ security was withdrawn after he was sentenced to imprisonment.

CJM who has requested the production of Sidhu in court said that former DSP Sekhon had entrusted the investigation to Navjot Singh Sidhu. The complaint submitted alleges that he threatened to stop the investigation over phone. CJM further stated that Sidhu as a witness is required in the case to carry out proceedings.
