
Punjab Weather has been putting its residents on edge. On one day, most of the districts witness strong torrential rainfall for a continuous 1 hour, on the next day, a bright sunny morning increases the heat. For example, the city of Jalandhar witnessed torrential rainfall on Tuesday morning, while on Wednesday, a bright sunny morning increased the heat once again.
Now, the India Meteorological Department has made a new Punjab Rainfall Prediction for 5 days, and it seems like most of the districts of the state will remain dry this week. Since most of the districts in Punjab received torrential rainfall in the past few days, the maximum temperature in multiple districts has decreased drastically. At 35.2°C, Bathinda was the hottest on July 1. Amritsar- 31.6°C, Ludhiana- 28.6°C, Patiala- 30°C, Pathankot- 29.1°C, Gurdaspur- 31.5°C, Jalandhar- (Nurmahal KVK)- 28.3°C, etc.
The India Meteorological Department has forecast an above normal exceeding 106% of the Long Period Average (LPA), for the month of July 2025. Speaking at a virtual press conference organised by the weather agency on June 30, Dr. Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, Director General of Meteorology at IMD, stated that many parts of the country are likely to experience normal to above-normal rainfall.
However, IMD also stated that most parts of Northeast India & many parts of East India, extreme South Peninsular India, and some areas of Northwest India are likely to receive below-normal rainfall.
