Coronavirus: Punjab records third death, state tally reaches 41

On Monday, Punjab records third death in the state with another patient succumbing to coronavirus (COVID-19) at Patiala.

The state has also confirmed three new cases — one each from Ludhiana, Patiala and SAS Nagar, which pegs the total count of positive cases to 41.

The 42-year-old woman from Ludhiana lost her life fighting with deadly virus.

On Monday morning, she was brought to Patiala Government Rajindra Hospital with acute respiratory syndrome at 1.30 am. Her samples for the COVID-19 were taken but she died before the report could confirm that she was positive with the infection.

District Health officials said she had a travel history of Dubai and was referred to Patiala from Ludhiana last night. Confirming the development, Patiala Civil surgeon Harish Malhotra said her body had been, already, sent to Ludhiana as per the guidelines.
