Punjab people are expecting some respite from the scorching heat as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts the arrival of rain towards the end of this week. Following a long period of hot and dry weather, light to moderate rains are expected to start on or around June 17, 2025, and bring relief to the dry state.

  • June 9 to June 16

The climate will be largely dry and extremely hot, with a scorching 44°C to 50°C temperature in most districts. No substantial precipitation will be witnessed during these days.

  • From June 17 onwards

Patchy rain and isolated thunderstorms from June 17 onward, occurring intermittently for a few days, are forecasted by IMD. These rains are likely to be light to moderate in intensity and scattered in nature over the state.

 Rainfall pattern

Punjab usually experiences around 3 to 8 rainy days in June, with monthly rainfall averaging approximately 60 mm. This year, too, the rains shall come in the same pattern and appear mid- to late June.
