Punjab: Section 144 imposed in Jalandhar due to peace disturbing incident, deets inside

After a few days later of the Ludhiana Court Complex blast, curfew has been imposed in Punjab’s Jalandhar under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) 1973 and the National Disaster Management Act, 2005.

Ludhiana Court Complex blast has prompted the Jalandhar administration to impose Section 144 in the district. The decision has been taken to avoid any peace disturbing incident. These restrictions will be imposed till the upcoming state assembly elections, implementation of the section will be from 23.12.2021 to 21.02.2022.

Authorities have banned mass gatherings (of 5 and more people), no protests allowed, people are prohibited to carry weapons, sharp objects in public.


This decision was taken after two days of Ludhiana Court Complex Blast, which took place on Thursday. A massive explosion was witnessed in Ludhiana’s court complex. The explosion took place on the second floor near Court number 9. Two people died and several people were injured as the wall collapsed. The reason for the explosion has not been revealed yet.
