Punjab shocker: Double murder in Bathinda over honour killing

The victims had married against the will of their family two years ago.

A case of double murder has come to light in Tungwali village of Bathinda. According to the police reports, the victim, a police constable, went to his in-law's house and was attacked and killed by his brother-in-law with sharp weapons. Meanwhile, the accused did not spare his sister and killed her too. The officials said the boy and the girl had a court marriage against the family's will. 

The deceased police constable has been identified as Jagmeet Singh, and his wife as Beant Kaur. The accused are identified as Kaka Singh, Hansa Singh, and Balkaran Singh.

After receiving the information, the police reached the spot and recovered the sharp weapons. The dead bodies have been sent to the civil hospital for post-mortem.

The police constable had a court marriage with Kaur two years ago, and they lived in Bathinda. The wife had gone to her maternal home in Tugwali for a few days, as per the police reports. 


On Sunday, Jagmeet also came to Tungwali to meet her. There, Kaka Singh, along with his associates Hansa Singh and Balkaran Singh, allegedly attacked him with sharp weapons. Hearing Jagmeet's voice, Beant Kaur came to save him. The accused allegedly attacked both of them with sharp weapons and killed them.

After committing the incident, the accused escaped from the spot. At present, the matter is being investigated by the police.
