In a tragic development, a computer science student from PTU, Kapurthala died by suicide on 27th May 2024. As per the information received, the deceased was a first-year computer science student who used to live in the university’s hostel. The student allegedly hung himself in the hostel room of Gujral Punjab Technical University, Kapurthala.
As soon as the information about the suicide was received by the staff and students of PTU, they reached the deceased’s room where he was found unconsciously hanging. He was then taken to the nearest Civil Hospital Kapurthala where duty doctor Jaspreet Singh declared him dead. The student’s name was Rajat who hailed from Kheri Sujanpur, Himachal Pradesh. Currently, the body of the deceased is at the mortuary of Kapurthala’s Civil Hospital. His parents have been informed about the same. Police have imitated the investigation while the reason of the suicide remains unknown. It is a developing story.
A few days back, first year B.Com student of Punjab College of Technical Education (PCTE), Ludhiana in Punjab, jumped to his death from the 7th floor of the college’s engineering department. He was caught cheating on his exam and instructed to go home after being denied to complete the examination.
Before this, a student from Lovely Professional University also died after jumping from the hostel's 9th floor in an alleged suicide.
