Punjab's Vigilance Bureau Chief Varinder Kumar on Friday got an additional charge of Special DGP Intelligence of the State. Varinder Kumar who is a 1993 batch IPS officer is currently Special DGP cum Chief Directory of Vigilance Bureau. After Friday's announcement, Varinder Kumar will also head the Intelligence wing, and all the officers posted in this wing will report to him. It is pertinent to mention here that when Varinder Kumar was ADGP, he headed the Intelligence unit as well. Varinder Sharma's appointment as Intelligence Unit Chief comes at a time when the Vigilance Bureau under him unearthed multiple corruption cases and many big names came under the radar of the anti-corruption unit including former Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi.
