Punjab is under yellow alert from February 19–20. Due to rain temperatures could drop once again. Temperatures in Punjab have been unusually high this February, rising 3 to 4 degrees above normal during the day and at night. Farmers were worried about this increase, but there is some hope after the most recent weather forecast.
The Meteorological Department predicts that February 19 and 20 will bring light to moderate rainfall to Punjab. A Yellow Alert has been issued for several areas of the state. According to experts, this rainfall would offer some respite from the rising heat, but it might also cause a brief drop in the mercury, which would return the temperature to a lower level.
The head of Punjab Agricultural University's Department of Climate Change and Agricultural Meteorology, Dr. Pavneet Kaur Kingra, shared her thoughts on the forthcoming weather shifts.
