A new political row erupted on Thursday after Mohali Police arrested Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Parambans Singh Bunty Romana from his Chandigarh residence for circulating a 'morphed' video of Punjabi singer Kanwar Grewal. AmidBunty Romana's arrest, Punjabi singer Kanwar Grewal took to his social media handle and shared a video addressing the controversy and confirmed that the video shared by the SAD leader was fake and morphed.

Kanwar Grewal in his video confirmed that the video shared on social media in which he was present was morphed. Kanwar Grewal appealed to his fans and followers to not get involved in such activity and use social media responsibly.
For the unversed, SAD leader Parambans Singh Bunty Romana reportedly tweeted a video purportedly showing Punjabi singer Kanwar Grewal singing a song featuring slurs against Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Bunty Romana's arrest took place after the Punjabi singer Grewal denied singing any such videos that apparently humiliated Delhi and Punjab CMs. As a result, Bunty Romana was charged with sections 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 469 (forgery for harming reputation), 500 (punishment for defamation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 43(i) read with 66 IT Act at Mataur police station. However, Romana was quoted saying that his arrest as a political vendetta.
