Punjab's Jaskaran Singh, a standout contestant on the iconic 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' show hosted by Amitabh Bachchan during its 15th season, demonstrated remarkable knowledge and poise. Although, he faced a challenging 7 crore question he couldn't answer, Jaskaran Singh left with a well-deserved one crore prize. Hailing from Khalra village in Tarn Taran, Jaskaran, a talented 21-year-old, made history as the first contestant of Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 15 to secure an impressive 1 crore prize.
The 7 crore question posed to Jaskaran was related to Padma Purana, asking which king was cursed to live as a tiger for 100 years due to a deer's curse. The options given were Kshemadharit, Dharmadatta, Mitadhvaja, and Prabhanjana.
Jaskaran struggled with the question initially, but when he realized he couldn't provide the correct answer, he chose to quit the game while sitting on the hot seat, telling Big B that he wanted to exit.
Amitabh Bachchan allowed him to quit as per the game's rules, but then he asked Jaskaran what would have happened if he had chosen one of the options. In response, Jaskaran picked the wrong option. Amitabh Bachchan pointed out that had he chosen that option, he would have lost one crore. The correct answer to the question was Prabhanjana.
Success After 4 Years of Trying
Jaskaran revealed that he had been trying to get on KBC for four consecutive years. He faced rejection in the tests but didn't give up hope. This year, he finally made it to the KBC stage. Passing the Fastest Finger First round and facing Big B in person was a unique experience for him.
Jaskaran also mentioned that he has been preparing for the UPSC alongside his KBC journey. His first UPSC attempt is scheduled for the next year. He managed to balance his preparations for UPSC and KBC simultaneously, covering subjects like history, geography, current affairs, and art and culture.
What He Couldn't Find in Books, He Found on Google
Jaskaran emphasized that he has been preparing for UPSC and KBC on his own, without any coaching or external help. He spends time in the library reading books and searches Google for information that's not available in his books.
Additionally, he has two teachers who have been a constant support. One of them is Professor Kamal Kishor from a DV College, and the other is Rakesh Kumar, who teaches him physics in his village.
