Social media on Friday was left buzzing around the world after a heartwarming video of New Zealand's allrounder Rachin Ravindra went viral on social media. New Zealand player Rachin Ravindra who is in India for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 has been the highest run-scorer in the elite tournament till now. Recently, New Zealand locked horns with Sri Lanka at the MA Chinaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Interestingly, Rachin's ancestors hail from South India, especially in Bengaluru. 

 

As a result, Rachin Ravindra, 23, visited his grandmother's home in Bengaluru recently. Overwhelmed by his visit, Rachin Ravindra's grandmother performed 'Nazar Utaro' ceremony. Now, Rachin Ravindra-grandmother nazar utaro ceremony video is spreading like wildfire and people are in awe over the sweet bond between the two. 

 

For those who are unaware, among Hindus when a mother observes that her child is being excessively complimented, it is common for them to attempt to neutralize the effects of the evil eye (nazar utarna) by holding red chilies in one hand and circling the child's head a few times, then burning the chilies.

 

Talking about Rachin Ravindra, he has his roots in Bengaluru. He was born in Wellington on 18 November 1999 to parents of Indian origin. His father Ravi Krishnamurthy, a software architect, played club-level cricket in Bangalore before settling in New Zealand in 1997. Notably, his father was a die hard fan of Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid. Hence, he named his son 'Rachin'. 

 

Coming to the World Cup 2023, Rachin Ravindra is at the top of the list of highest run-getters followed by Quinton De Kock, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and more. This is the maiden world cup of Rachin Ravindra. 

 

Recently, the 23-year-old Kiwi cricketer broke Jonny Bairstow’s record for most runs in the maiden World Cup edition during New Zealand’s match against Sri Lanka in Bengaluru on Thursday. Jonny Bairstow had managed 532 runs in 11 innings during the 2019 edition when England won the title. Rachin got past the record in his ninth essay of this World Cup.
