Rahul Gandhi of Congress and a Lok-Sabha MP from Wayanadchose to speak on the farm laws in response to Prime Minister's jibe, the otherday about the content and intent of the farm laws in Parliament. He said theselaws are for government's "corporate friends."

In an uproar in the parliament, Gandhi said thegovernment if following 'Hum do Hamare do' policy to further the interests of"two corporate friends." However, ruckus ensued over Gandhi's speechbecause BJP MPs said he should speak on budget. In his nearly 15 minutes longspeech, he said the corporate friends of the government are taking control ofthe Rs 40 lakh crore agriculture business.

BJP leaders insisted Gandhi should speak on Budget sincefarm laws were discussed as a part of motion of thanks to the President RamNath Kovind's address. Gandhi didn't name anyone but said everyone knows fourpeople are running the country.

Gandhi added that these laws have been implemented tomake sure all the purchase and storage of food grains is monopolized for two corporatein the country. Gandhi alleged that the new farm laws will destroy mandisystem, dismantle India's food security, hurt rural economy, distort India'sability to produce jobs.

Gandhi said, "The intent of these laws is to allowindustrialists to buy unlimited quantities of food grains and hoard them asmuch as they want. The Prime Minister said he has given options. Yes, he hasgiven three options: hunger, unemployment, suicide......"

The parliamentary affairs minister interfered and askedGandhi to speak on budget, Gandhi said he would speak about the issue offarmers because the government had denied structured debate regarding theirissues.

Gandhi also askedfellow MPs to observe two minutes silence to mourn the death of more than200 farmers in the parliament but the MPs from other parties outburst inprotests. Speaker Om Birla was also displeased and said running the house ishis responsibility while such behavior by senior MPs is"inappropriate."
