Rahul Gandhi halts Bharat Jodo Yatra in Punjab after sudden demise of Congress MP Jalandhar Santokh Singh Chaudhary

In an absolute shocker, Congress MP of Jalandhar Santokh Singh Chaudhary died at the age of 76 after suffering a heart attack. The incident took place during Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra. Reportedly, Santokh Singh’s health deteriorated during the yatra after which he was taken to the hospital and was declared brought dead.

As per information received, Santokh Singh Chaudhary joined Rahul Gandhi during Bharat Jodo Yatra after which he complaint about feeling uneasy and his health started to deteriorate. Post this, he fell on the ground after which he was taken to the nearest hospital in Phagwara. The doctors there declared him brought dead.

On receiving the information of his demise, Rahul Gandhi has stopped his Bharat Jodo Yatra for the time being. Yatra was going from Ladowal toll plaza in Ludhiana towards Phagwara during which this incident happened. It is being said that Rahul Gandhi also went to the hospital along with him.

Rahul Gandhi started the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Punjab on 10th January. On the first day, a journey was taken from Fatehgarh Sahib to Khanna in Ludhiana. Post this, the yatra was started from Samrala and ended with a meeting at the Samrala Chowk. The yatra did not take place on 13th January 2023 due to Lohri.

In 2019, Santokh Singh Chaudhary became the second-time MP from Jalandhar with a margin of 19,491 votes.

CM Mann has also paid his heartfelt condolences for the untimely demise of MP Santokh Singh. He took to his Twitter handle and wrote, “I am deeply saddened by the untimely death of Congress Member of Parliament from Jalandhar, Santokh Singh Chowdhury.. May God rest his soul in peace.”
