Preet Kaur Gill raised the issue of oppression of Sikhs in the lower house of the British Parliament (House of Commons). She said in her address that Sikhs living in Britain are in the hit list of agents 'with links to India'. Gill referred to alleged assassination plots against Sikhs abroad.

She said that in recent months, the Five Eyes countries (Intelligence Alliance of Australia, Canada, New Zealand, US and UK) have expressed concern over the action of agents linked to India targeting Sikh activists in the United Kingdom. What is important to note is that alleged murders and murder conspiracies have been foiled. She further went on to say that the US and Canada consider such matters as a challenge to their sovereignty and their democratic values. Given reports of British Sikhs facing similar threats, she posed the question to the government regarding the steps that they are taking for their safety.

In response to MP Preet Kaur Gill's question, Security Minister Tom Tugendhat said that if there is any threat to any British citizen from any foreign entity, then immediate action will be taken. The Sikh community has the right to be safe in Britain like every other community. All British citizens are equal, regardless of their colour, religion, belief or political allegiance.
