In a recent interview, Raj Kundra, renowned businessman and husband to Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, candidly discussed her initial reaction to his upcoming acting debut in the film 'UT69,' all set to release on November 3.
During the grand trailer launch event, Raj Kundra recounted how Shilpa responded when he shared the news of his acting venture.
Shilpa's surprising reaction
Raj Kundra is set to make his acting debut in the film 'UT69,' which portrays his personal journey during a two-month stint in prison in 2021.
At the trailer launch event, Raj Kundra disclosed, "She was a few feet away from me when I decided to tell her that I am making a film. I didn't want to go too close to her (laughs)."
He went on to reveal that her initial response was far from encouraging, "I told her that I have a script and was waiting for her answer. When I turned away from her, a flying chappal came at my face. I think she thought that the idea was a little dicey first. Maybe she thought that the film wouldn’t get made."
Shilpa's change of heart
Raj Kundra then detailed how Shilpa eventually came around to the idea of the film, explaining, "Then I told Shahnawaz (Ali, the director) to go and explain it to her. He gave her a very small narration. She thought about it and realized that it wasn’t about the case or against the system in any way. She felt it was a very human story."
"She was very supportive," Raj Kundra added. "She asked me, 'Tu acting kar lega (will you be able to act)?' I told her that I will be able to since I have done some method acting by going to jail." He also expressed how proud Shilpa was of his acting endeavor.
About 'UT69'
For those unfamiliar with the film, Raj Kundra faced arrest and was named a key accused in a pornographic film case in July 2021. 'UT69' prominently features Raj Kundra in the lead role and provides an intimate portrayal of his time in Mumbai's Arthur Road Jail scheduled to release on November 3.
