A new turn in farmers protest

Rakesh Tikait - and influential farmer leader has been at the forefront of the farm movement at the  UP-Delhi borders. After a fall in farmer agitation and many quitting the protest after the Republic Day Red Fort violence, Tikait again brought back life to the protest when he asked the farmers to head Ghazipur and join him while breaking down into tears on camera. He said, " I will commit suicide, but won't vacate the protest site".

His zealous plea invoked a massive response with thousands of farmers marching towards Ghaizpur.

Despite, ultimate from the Yogi government to vacate the protest site, cutting off electricity, internet and water supply, nothing has shaken Tikait’s spirit.

Since then, the farmers' protest has taken a definite political turn with Manish Sisodia visiting the Singhu border and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh addressing the Kisan Mahapanchayat in Muzaffarnagar. Several other political leaders have extended their immense support to the farmers’ protest and also boycotted the Parliament Budget session, with many visiting the borders.
