Raksha Bandhan, which literally means "safety" and "bind," honors the special relationship that exists between a brother and his sister. On the full moon day, or Purnima, in the Hindu calendar month of Shravan, the celebration is held. It falls on August 22 this year.

The auspicious time to tie the Rakhi will start from 9 am to 12 noon on August 22 and from 1:30 pm to 3 pm and from 6 pm to 10:30 pm on the same day.
