Bollywood actor Rakul Preet Singh has moved the Delhi High Court seeking urgent interim directions from the court restraining media from running shows or publishing articles against her in connection with the drug probe which emerged out following the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

The petition filed through advocates Himanshu Yadav, Aman Hingorani, and Shweta Hingorani claims that Rakul Preet has been in Hyderabad for a film shoot and was shocked to see media reports in the evening of September 29.

Appearing before the Delhi High Court Hingorani sought direction to be issued to the regulatory bodies to ensure that media channels do not broadcast any report on the investigation which is pending before NCB and take immediate action against violating channels. Team Rakul sought no reporting on any case which is pending investigation before NCB as it will severely damage the right to fair trial and reputation of the accused.

Team Rakul to Delhi High Court said, "Article 21 provides for Right to Fair Trial. Therefore, restraint on media publication as a preventive relief does fall within the writ jurisdiction of the court."

The lawyer representing Rakul also said to the Delhi High Court that she was summoned as a witness in a pending NCB investigation, but fake news is being peddled calling her a druggie. In fact, Rakul is a teetotaler, she doesn't even do drugs, claimed the lawyer.

Rakul's dignity and privacy are getting violated, she also lost a film due to this media campaign. Media channels like Republic, TimesNow, India Today and others are peddling fake news against her, the lawyer added.

The Court on this asked the Central government 'Have done anything about the complaints filed by Rakul?'. The center replied that they are looking into it then the court directed the central government to file a status report on this.
