Ranveer Singh has teamed up with South film director SShankar for the remake of the 2005 film Anniyan. The film is yet to be namedand shooting is anticipated to begin in mid-2022. The Bollywood remake ofAnniyan is the first project of Ranveer Singh with film director Shankar, whois known for films like Enthiran, 2.0, and Sivaji The Boss.
Ranveer Singh announced the same today, on April 14 via anInstagram post. Sharing the information, he posted a picture of him with S.Shankar and film producer Jayantilal Gada. He captioned, “Proudly announcing mycollaboration with the pioneering visionary of Indian cinema, the maverickmaster craftsman SHANKAR, powered veteran film producer Dr. Jayatilal Gada.”
The psychological thriller featured Vikram in a role of aman who has Multiple Personality Disorder. The character works as a lawyer but turns into a vigilante at night. Thefilm was dubbed in Hindi named Aparichit and Aparichitudu in Telugu. Anniyanhas won a National Film Award for the Best Special Effects.
Happily announcing the remake, director S Shankar said, “Forit to be made into a Hindi film, Anniyan needed a maverick, charismatic showmanlike no other to play the part. I found this in the mercurial Ranveer Singhbecause he is a once-in-a-generation actor who has shown us that he canimmortalize a character through his stellar performance.”
Director Shankar further added, “I’m thrilled to makeAnniyan for the pan-Indian audience and I’m confident that this powerful storywill strike a chord in the hearts of all. In Dr. Gada, Ranveer and I have foundan ideal producer who believes in the vision we have to change the nativity ofcontent for audiences across the country.”
The unnamed movie will be produced by Dr. Jayantilal Gada ofPen Studios and co-produced by God Bless Entertainment.
