Rape case against Punjab Police DSP; woman was a tenant of police officer's house in Patiala

The woman told the police that she was staying at the DSP's house as a tenant. Meanwhile, Sanjeev Sagar raped her.

Police DSP Sanjeev Sagar, who is stationed in Patiala, Punjab, is charged with rape. These allegations were made by a woman who was renting the DSP's house. After the complaint of the woman, Patiala Police registered a case against DSP Sanjeev Sagar.

The woman told the police that she was staying at the DSP's house as a tenant. Meanwhile, Sanjeev Sagar raped her. 

In response to the victim's serious charges, Patiala Police launched an additional investigation and filed a case against DSP Sanjeev Sagar. A case has been registered against DSP Sanjeev Sagar under sections 376 and 506 of the IPC Act.  However, the accused has not been arrested yet. It is alleged that after the complaint of the case, the SIT constituted for investigation also called the victim repeatedly to the police station of Barnala, due to which the victim came under mental stress.

The woman said that the members of the SIT team were with DSP Sanjeev Kumar and being his junior was not conducting a fair investigation into the matter. She has provided the police with the voice recording of the interaction with Sanjeev Kumar and his family in addition to the complaint.

The Patiala Police is currently looking into the claims made against DSP Sanjeev Sagar, as well as the time, the victim was a tenant in the accused's home, the authenticity of the voice recording, and other evidence.
