The much-awaited movie Annapoorani - The Goddess Of Food was released on Netflix on December 29, 2023. After its OTT release, Annapoorani - The Goddess Of Food made its way into the most-watched movies of the week on Netflix. Directed by Nilesh Krishnaa, Annapoorani - The Goddess Of Food is the story of a Brahim woman who aspires to be India's top chef. Starring Nayanthara, Sathyaraj, Redin Kingsley, K.S. Ravikumar and more in the leading roles, Annapoorani is a Tamil movie that has also been released in dubbed versions on OTT giant Netflix. With the movie's plot revolving around so much of realism, the question arises whether Annapoorani is a true story or Annapoorani is a real story or not. Is Annapoorani a true story?

 

The answer is no. Annapoorani is an original story of a Brahmin woman aspiring to be India's best chef and fighting social norms including religious barriers to to fulfill her dreams. South movie star Nayanthara plays the character of Annapoorani in the Netflix movie.

 

For those who still haven't watched Annapoorani, the movie revolves around a young girl of the same name who wants to pursue a degree in hotel management and climb the ladder to become a corporate chef like her idol, Chef Anand Sundarajan.

 

Annapoorani family's lineage has been dedicated to serving at the Srirangam temple, where her father cooks the food offered to devotees as 'prasadam'. The family being Brahmin eats only vegetarian food. Annapoorani's father refuses to let her be in a room where meat is served and cooked, let alone let her pursue a degree where she is forced to handle meat.

 

Notably, Annapoorani on Netflix has started to spark controversy as well. A clip of the movie is going viral on X in which Annapoorani informs the jury chefs that she read Namaz before cooking Biryani. In the clip, the actress says that she has been told that reading 'Namaz' before cooking will make the food even more tasty.
