Real vs Reel: Is Diljit Dosanjh’s 'Jogi' based on the true events of Anti-Sikh 1984 Delhi riots?

The answer is YES. The director of the film ‘Jogi’ Abbas Ali Zafar himself agreed with the fact that the film he has made is based on a true story.

Diljit Dosanjh is all set to make his debut on the OTT platform with his most awaited film ‘Jogi’ which will be streaming on 16th September 2022 on Netflix. Like all other movies, Diljit Dosanjh’s Jogi has also become the most awaited film for the fans that will be available to watch in the month of September.

Apart from Amayra Dastur and Diljit Dosanjh, Hiten Tejwani, Mohd. Zeeshan Ayub and Kumud Mishra will also be seen in the movie playing their roles dutifully.

Diljit Dosanjh’s Jogi is a film about the bravery and friendship of three close friends in Delhi during the 1984 riots.

The trailer of the movie has already been out and the first thing that comes to each person watching it is whether Diljit Dosanjh starrer ‘Jogi’ is based on true events or not.

He acclaimed that the film is set against the Anti Sikh riots that fueled in Delhi after the Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her Sikh bodyguard. These riots were devastating for the whole country and led to the death of many Sikhs, especially in Delhi.

The movie has portrayed what people suffered and went through trying to save their lives by fleeing to Punjab or finding to out all the possible ways to just leave Delhi during that time.

The makers also revealed that they feel contended after choosing Diljit to play the role of the protagonist as he is surely justifying it.

Diljit’s character in the film ‘Jogi’ is seen and portrayed as one trying to the people during the riots and also helping them to flee the city.

The makers of the film have called it ‘the biggest human heist’ that will ever be witnessed.

Before the release of the film, the fans showered love onto the ever-loved actor Diljit for his stellar performance in the movie.

One fan wrote, “Always thought that he could only do comedy films, but seeing his intense acting in this and even Punjab 1984 showcases how good of an actor Diljit is.”
