Entire India and even some people living outside India recently received an unexpected message from none other than Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Yes! you heard it right. PM Modi's open letter on his governance slid into the DMs of WhatsApp users. WhatsApp users of India in the past few days have received a random message from Viksit Bharat Sampark in which a PDF file of 'Letter of Prime Minister' has been shared. Interestingly, PM Modi's WhatsApp outreach came after the Election Commission of India had already imposed the Model Code of Conduct in which Government or political parties are bard to announce new measures among many other things.
PM Modi's WhatsApp message says, "This letter has been sent by the Government of India under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji. In the last 10 years, more than 140 crore citizens of India have benefited directly from the various schemes of the Government of India and will continue to benefit in the future. Your suggestions are important to fulfill the aspirations of a Viksit Bharat. Therefore, you are requested to kindly share your feedback." As per reports, in October last year, the EC had asked the government not to carry out the proposed Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra in poll-bound states.
TMC files complaint against PM Modi for violating MCC
On PM Modi's WhatsApp outreach, TMC has filed two complaints of code of conduct violation against the Prime Minister in the Election Commission of India. On Monday (March 18), TMC leader Derek O'Brien wrote a complaint letter to the Election Commission.
In his letter, the TMC leader wrote, "It has come to our attention that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has purportedly penned a letter dated 15.03.2024 which has been addressed to ‘My dear family member’, wherein, he has highlighted various programmes/schemes initiated by the BJP-led Central Government over the past decade. The said letter has been mass-circulated through WhatsApp to various citizens across the country."
Derek further wrote, "Shockingly, Mr Modi’s letter is accompanied by a message which reads as follows: ‘This letter has been sent by the Government of India under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji…"
Derek O'Brien claimed that a letter was also sent by the PM along with the message. It was written in it that in the last 10 years, more than 140 crore people in the country benefited from the schemes of the Government of India. Derek said that it is clear that the BJP has been promoted in the message sent by the PM. This shows that Modi-BJP is promoting its schemes through the revenue of the central government.
