Relief for Honey Singh; Punjab Police to cancel FIR in 'Mai Hun Balatkari' song row

An FIR was lodged against rapper Hridesh Singh aka Yo Yo Honey Singh for penning and singing a controversial song titled, 'Mai Hun Balatkari'.

In a massive relief for Yo Yo Honey Singh, the Punjab Government informed the Punjab and Haryana High Court that it has decided to file a cancellation report regarding the 10-year-long FIR registered against the Punjabi rapper. An FIR was lodged against rapper Hridesh Singh aka Yo Yo Honey Singh for penning and singing a controversial song titled, 'Mai Hun Balatkari'. Nawahshehr police had booked Honey Singh under Section 294 of the IPC which deals with Obscene acts and songs, in or near any public place. Honey Singh released his controversial song in 2008 on YouTube. The FIR was registered on May 17, 2013. 

 

As per reports, the rapper denied any claims of having anything to do with the song and now the Punjab Government informed the High Court that a cancellation report has been formed and is pending approval from the higher authorities.

 
During the hearing, Justice Jasjit Singh Bedi declared that in case the state decides to file the report inculpating the rapper, he will be given seven days’ notice to avail the legal services provided according to the law. 

 

Hirdesh Singh, a.k.a Honey Singh, also popular by his stage name, Yo-Yo Honey Singh, has vehemently denied any relations with the song and claims that the song was posted by a burner account. He is famous for songs such as “High heels” and “Desi Kalakaar” and took a 5-year long career break to deal with his mental health issues.
