
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) got a major boost in Punjab asrenowned international hockey star and retired inspector general of Punjabpolice Surinder Sodhi and many other prominent personalities joined the AAPhere on Monday.
The leaders joined the AAP in the presence of party'sstate president and MP Bhagwant Mann, senior leader of the party and Leader ofOpposition (LoP) in the Punjab Assembly, Harpal Singh Cheema and Punjabin-charges Jarnail Singh and Raghav Chadha. Warmly welcoming them into theparty, the AAP leaders said that today the people of Punjab are seeing the AamAadmi Party as their only ray of hope.
They said that looking at the AAP as the only crediblealternative which can bring a real change in Punjab, similar to the changebrought about in Delhi by AAP's national convener and CM Arvind Kejriwal, manyeminent faces joined the party along with Surinder Sodhi.
They were Colonel Mandip Grewal, who has been a two timegallantry awardee in the Indian Army and belongs to a family which has been inthe armed forces from the last five generations. Also, Somnath Bangar andJaswinder Kaur Mann, both independent municipal councillors from Ward 11 and 12of Garhshankar municipal council joined the AAP. Both the councillors retainedtheir seats in the municipal bodies' elections held recently.
Another leader Gurmail Singh Kaler aka J S Kaler, aninternational sports commentator, who was APPA's candidate from Nakodar in2017, also joined the party. The leaders said that with these joining, the AAPgot a major boost in the Doaba region of the state.
Welcoming the leaders to the AAP family, Bhagwant Mannsaid that joining of big faces like Surinder Sodhi into the party shows thatthe people of Punjab believes that the AAP is the only party that can bringabout credible change in Punjab and make the lives of the common people betterjust like the Arvind Kejriwal government did in Delhi.
Raghav Chadha said thatmore big faces are lined up to be inducted into the AAP in the coming dayswhich would give a boost to the party.
