Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday announced that residents of state will get delivery of more than 42 citizen centric services at their doorsteps from the coming parkash purb of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji. 

Addressing the gathering after dedicating OPD Block and OT Complex in State Cancer Institute, Radiation Therapy Block, Senior Resident Hostel Block, Nursing Hostel Block, Boys Hostel and Auditorium in E Hospital Project as a part of Centennial Celebration Program of Government Medical College Amritsar, the Chief Minister said that in order to provide citizen centric services at the doorsteps of the people, the state government will start a unique drive on November 27- the parkash purb of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji. He said that under this drive 40-42 services will be available to the people at their doorstep without any hassle and inconvenience. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this will be a big facility to the people as they will not have to run pillar to post for availing these services.  

Announcing to develop the state as ‘a hub of Medical Tourism’ by giving a major fillip to the Medical education sector, the Chief Minister said that the state government is already making all out efforts in this regard. He said that there is no dearth of funds for this purpose and the state government will leave no stone unturned for this noble cause. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state has huge potential for this sector and thrust will be laid to ensure that medical tourism is promoted in the state.

The Chief Minister said that ever since assuming the charge of office, his government has accorded top priority to the Health and Education sector. He said that a huge budgetary provision is being made to give fillip to the Medical Education in the state. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this step is aimed at revolutionizing the healthcare and medical education sectors in the state.

The Chief Minister also announced that by January 26 all the hospitals in the state from tehsil and district level will be equipped with X-ray machines. He said that this facility will be available in all the hospitals along with the operators by the coming Republic Day. Likewise, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that all the medicines prescribed by the Doctors will also be available to the people within the hospital only to check their loot.  

The Chief Minister said that the state government has set up 664 Aam Aadmi Clinics in the state to give a facelift to health sector. He said that 80 types of medicines and 42 diagnostic tests are being provided free of charge to the patients in these clinics. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that over 65 lakh patients availed free healthcare services at these clinics.

The Chief Minister said that these clinics have opened new avenues of work for the youth in the medical sector. He said that these clinics are providing world class treatment and diagnostic facilities to the people free of cost. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that these clinics have also helped the government in preparing a database for checking the various diseases prevalent in the state and combating them effectively.

The Chief Minister further said that in a major push to Medical education in Punjab, the state government has decided to construct 16 new Medical colleges in the coming five years that will enhance the total tally of medical colleges in the state to 25 thereby ensuring that every district of the state touches a medical college. He said that one such medical college will be dedicated to the people of the state on Saturday in Hoshiarpur during a function. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that more such colleges will be opened very soon to ensure that people get quality medical facilities.

The Chief Minister envisioned that the students aspiring to pursue medical education will no longer have to go to countries like Ukraine as they will be provided quality medical education in these medical colleges. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that earlier governments have not paid any attention towards it but his government is laying major thrust on it. He said that the day is not far when Punjab will lead the country in every sector thereby making it a number one state in the nation.

The Chief Minister said that the state government is committed to make Punjab a progressive, peaceful and prosperous state. He said that there is no dearth of talent in the state but the need of the hour is to channelize this energy in a positive direction by creating opportunities. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government is making strenuous efforts to create infrastructure in fields of education, health, employment and others.

The Chief Minister said that the state government is making concerted efforts to bridge the gap between rich and poor especially in the field of education. He said that the focus is being laid to ensure that quality education is provided to the youth so as to ensure their comprehensive development. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that for this focus is being laid on improving the standard of education in the government schools. 

The Chief Minister said that as runways at the airports facilitate an Airplane for its smooth take off in the same manner the state government is helping the youth to realize their dreams. He asserted that every effort is being made to give wings to the ideas of youth and no stone is being left unturned for this noble cause. Bhagwant Singh Mann made a fervent appeal to youth to make all out efforts for carving an identity of their own to make a place in society adding that sky's the limit for them.

Training his guns at his predecessors, the Chief Minister said that these leaders had built huge palaces by amassing whopping wealth by misusing their official positions. He said that the walls of these palatial palaces were high and the gates usually remained closed for the people. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that these leaders remained inaccessible to the people due to which they were ousted by the masses.

The Chief Minister said that the state government is committed to ensuring the well being of the people for which stupendous efforts are being made. Reiterating the firm commitment of his government to ensure welfare of the state, Bhagwant Singh Mann exhorted the people to support him for restoring the pristine glory of state and carve out a Rangla Punjab. He said that this herculean task cannot be completed without the active support of people from all sections of society.  

Earlier, Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh welcomed all the dignitaries to the occasion.
