Revenue officers on strike, no certificate made; work stalled in Punjab’s tehsils

The revenue officers went on strike after the Lambi incident, no work has been done in any tehsil office of the state

The Tehsildars and Patwaris were held hostage by the farmer Unions of Lambi for immediate compensation for crops destroyed by the bollard attack. After this incident, in the protest, all the revenue officers of the state have gone on strike. As a result of which, no work has been done in any tehsil office of the state today. 

Punjab Patwari Union President Harveer Singh Dhindsa and District Head Varinder Sharma said that the Government has announced the compensation and the Patwaris are preparing the reports of the crop damage in the state. Despite this, farmers protesting in Lambi illegally took hostage Naib Tehsildar and Patwaris on duty, on Monday afternoon.

Taking government officials hostage in the line of duty is a very serious matter. The local administration officers tried to convince the farmers but they refused to let the hostages go. They said the government should take immediate action against it. The union said that it is very surprising that the Government has not g
iven any response on it. They will be on strike till the reply on this matter.

Union said that the way people are being hostage; the employees-officers are not feeling safe. It is the Government’s Job to ensure the safety of their workers. 

As the employees of the tehsil office in the state went on strike, People coming from far and wide had to face problems due to non-availability of work.
