Bollywood famous film-maker Ram Gopal Varma has come in support of Rhea Chakraborty and slammed the media trial going on against her. In an interview with Hungama.com RGV said he is shocked to see how Rhea Chakraborty is being treated. According to him, the whole point of the justice system is that if there is an allegation, even if it is by an authorized agency like the police, it should be backed by evidence. He feels that in Rhea’s case nobody cares if she is guilty or not. He added that people are slamming her day in and day out.
Varma on the minute-by-minute coverage by the media in Sushant Singh Rajput's case said that the media is covering it second by second and people are passing their verdict on her character without any credible evidence. He said that it is like in the interiors of the country where a woman is accused of being a witch and she is hunted down and stoned to death.
According to him, there is no difference between that and what the media is doing to Rhea Chakraborty. She is being hunted like a witch. He stated that it is very insensitive to hunt somebody down without knowing something about that person's concrete.
Varma has been continuously backing Rhea, and he has been appealing his counter-parts of Bollywood to come forward and speak up against the media trail going on.
