Rihanna, Greta Thunberg extend support to farmers in India, tweets draw intl attention while protest sites turn fortresses

Rihanna and Greta Thunberg express their solidarity with Indian farmers protesting against contentious farm laws.

Farmers protesting around the borders in Delhi gets international support time and again. Now, it is Rihanna, a Hollywood superstar and Greta Thunberg who rose to fame as a teenage by protesting against climate change.

Rihanna in a tweet writes, "Why aren't we talking about this? #FarmersPrtest." She shared a news story of CNN in her tweet. Similarly, Greta Thunberg also expressed her solidarity with the protesting farmers in India who are agitating for more than two months now against the contentious farm laws.

Meanwhile, the farmers in India are going to block roads countrywide to mark their protest against the suspension of internet while the government has resorted to fixing iron nails on the roads and the protest sites around Delhi turn into a fortress.

Also, Kangana Ranaut, who is known for her stance against the farmers tweeted in response to Rihann's tweet. Ranaut writes, "No one is talking about it because they are not farmers they are terrorists who are trying to divide India, so that China can take over our vulnerable broken nation and make it a Chinese colony much like USA... Sit down you fool, we are not selling our nation like you dummies."

Although one tweet by Rihanna has drawn international attention to the problems faced by farmers in India. Moreover, tweet of Thunberg has also intensified the e-activism on micro-blogging sites.

One of the users on Twitter replied to Rihanna. @fentystin said, "thank you for speaking up rih! for those unaware of whats happening in india, 250 million farmers are on a protest for fair prices and control over their product, if you wanna know how huge that number is, the population of usa is 330 million. let that sink in."
