Ripudaman Singh's Ferozepur connection: Donated land to the Gurdwara and built a school

Ripudaman Singh Malik had come to Ferozepur in April 2022 and had gone to his bungalow to start the work of building an old age home.

After the murder of Ripudaman Singh Malik, who was shot dead in Canada, the people of his hometown are very sad. He had come to Ferozepur in April 2022 and had gone to his bungalow to start the work of building an old age home. The work of an old-age ashram in the bungalow is still going on. Prior to this, in 1997, by giving his land to Khalsa Gurdwara, Guru Harikrishna Public School has been started. 

Ripudaman Singh left Punjab with his family and shifted to Delhi in 1970, after that he himself moved to Canada and his elder brother Gurdeep Singh USA and younger brother Jasjit Singh still live in Delhi. His sister was a doctor in Railway Hospital, who went to America after retirement.

After reaching Canada in 1972, he took up the job of driving a cab, after that his life turned and he started a number of schools in Canada by forming the Satnam Education Society and in 1986 established the Khalsa Credit Unit, which was a bank. His ancestral house was located in Killewali street of Firozpur city, but later he lived in bungalow number 73 on Jhok Road. Apart from running a nursery in the said bungalow, some tenants have been living for the last four decades. 

The head of Khalsa Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee, Satindrajit Singh said that when Ripudaman Singh Malik had come to Ferozepur three months ago, he had come to the school including his ancestral house, bungalow, besides bowing down to the Khalsa Gurdwara. His love for his native land was so much that he distributed ration kits to thousands of needy people in Covid-19. Kitchens have been started by him in Hoshiarpur and Shri Muktsar Sahib, where food is available to the needy.

Former councilor Jora Singh Sandhu, businessman Gurpreet Singh, Rupinder Singh said that despite going to Canada, Ripudaman Singh did not give up his fascination for Ferozepur and the work done in the field of social service here cannot be forgotten. He said that Malik played an important role in the education and expansion of Punjabi. Jora Singh said that Ripundaman was the diamond of the community.
