Rishi Sunak, son-in-law of Infosys co-founder, Narayana Murthy to be appointed as UK’s Prime Minister?

Sunak is married to Akshata Murthy, the daughter of the Indian billionaire businessman N. R. Narayana Murthy.

According to sources, Boris is facing pressure not only from the opposition party but also from his own party to step down.

British politician Rishi Sunak, a former banker and hedge fund manager who has been Chancellor of the Exchequer since February 2020. A member of the Conservative Party, he was previously Chief Secretary to the Treasury from 2019 to 2020. 

Born in Southampton to British Indian parents who had emigrated from East Africa, while studying at Stanford, he met his future wife Akshata Murthy, the daughter of the Indian billionaire businessman N. R. Narayana Murthy. 

Sunak was selected as the Conservative candidate for Richmond (Yorks) in October 2014. The seat had previously been held by William Hague, a former leader of the party, Foreign Secretary and First Secretary of State, who chose to stand down at the following general election.


Sunak was promoted to Chancellor of the Exchequer on 13 February 2020 as part of a cabinet reshuffle, after the resignation of his predecessor, Javid, on the same day. Ever since he took charge as to Chancellor of the Exchequer, there were speculations that Sunak might move to some big position soon.
