
Punjab Forests, Social Justice, Empowerment, Minoritiesand Printing & Stationery Minister Sadhu Singh Dharmsot on Sunday paidtribute to famous Punjabi Singer Sardool Sikander who passed away on February 24,on behalf of the state government.
Addressing the gathering on the Bhog and Antim Ardas ofSardool Sikander at the grain market, the Minister announced that the roadleading from village Bullepur (Khanna) to his house would be named SardoolSikandar Marg. He also said that to make a memorial of late Singer would alsobe built as per the wishes of the family.
He said that Sikander was one of his friends and he hadmet him in the hospital a day before his death. He revealed that we both had adetailed discussion.
He said Sikander was the gem of the Punjabi musicindustry and told that his death has deeply saddened every Punjabi living inPunjab and abroad and the void left behind by him will be impossible to fill.
While paying tributes to the late singer, Fatehgarh SahibMP Dr Amar Singh told that Sardool Sikander was born in a poor family but hescaled all heights in classical music. He said that the state government wouldremain stand with the family of the legendry singer of the Punjabi musicindustry.
Sharing his heartfelt sympathies with the members of thebereaved family, MP prayed to the almighty to grant eternal peace to the souland strength to the family.
Khanna MLA Gurkirat Singh Kotli also paid homage tosinger Sardool Sikander and said that we feel proud that the latter was aresident of Khanna city and he made the city’s name famous all over the countryand the world.
On the occasion, people from all walks of life paid richtribute to Sikander.
