These roads to be closed due to Home Minister Amit Shah’s Chandigarh visit on Friday

In light of Amit Shah's visit, the Chandigarh traffic police issued a traffic advisory on Wednesday for the general public’s information

Minister of home affairs Amit Shah will be visiting Chandigarh on December 22 i.e. Friday. In light of this, the Chandigarh traffic police issued a traffic advisory on Wednesday for the general public’s information. The following roads will be closed and hence it is advised that the commuters find alternate routes during the timings mentioned below. Here are the details:

 

(From Chandigarh Traffic Police)

From 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, traffic will be diverted/restricted on the following roads

  • Uttar Marg at Rajindra Park, Sector 2/3 Small Chowk (Junction 2) to Lake Light Point; 
  • Vigyan Path at Hira Singh Chowk (Jn.11), Golf Turn and
  • Sukhna Path at SGGS Light Point to St.Kabir Light Point, Chandigarh

 

From 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, traffic will be diverted/restricted on the following roads:

  • Sukhna Path at SGGS Light Point, PS East Chowk(Jn.22);
  • Sarovar Path at A.P. Chowk (Jn.21),
  • Old Labour Chowk (Jn.28)
  • The entire Dakshin Marg from New Labour Chowk(Jn.35) near Sham Fashion Mall till Zirakpur Barrier

 

General public is requested to adopt other alternate routes to avoid any congestion/inconvenience and to reach at their destination before 5 PM to avoid traffic congestion. The general public is also requested to follow the social media account of Chandigarh Traffic Police for real time updates on traffic.

 

Guests, invitees and official staff are requested to park their vehicles at the designated parking lots only.

 

General public is advised not to park their vehicles on cycle track/pedestrian pathway and No Parking Area, otherwise strict action shall be taken as per law and vehicles shall be towed away.

 

Rehearsal for the visit of Hon'ble Home Minister of India shall be held on December 21 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM and Road users are, therefore, advised to make use of alternative routes during the timings given above.
