As per South African media reports, Ronald Malindi was fighting for his life in hospital for weeks as he was shot in his head. However, on Saturday, Ronald Malindi died due to fatal bullet injuries. On September 5, 2023, the 29-year-old boxer was shot twice in the head in Westbury, Johannesburg. The authorities at that time in their statement had revealed that they were investigating a case of "attempted murder after a man was shot by unknown suspects."

 

After Ronald Malindi's death, Boxing South Africa issued a heartfelt post and wrote, "It is with deep sadness that we mourn the loss of Ronald “King” Malindi, a true South African bantamweight champion with an unblemished record of 19 professional fights without a single loss. He stood just one victory away from securing sole possession of the SA bantamweight belt. Our hearts are heavy as we bid farewell to this remarkable boxer."
