Roof of three-storey building collapses in Ludhiana, four workers feared trapped, rescue operation underway

Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police also reached the spot to take stock of the situation.

The roof of three-storey factory collapsed at Baba Mukand Singh Naga on Daba Road in Ludhiana on Monday morning.

The teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and police have reportedly reached the spot on time and started the rescue operation.

The teams have rescued 36 workers and at least four are suspected to be trapped. Besides, one worker was declared brought dead at Civil Hospital and five others are undergoing treatment at the civil hospital only.

Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police also reached the spot to take stock of the situation and ongoing rescue operation.

As per information, the building was under-construction; however, the teams are yet to ascertain the exact reason behind the building collapse.

Rescue officials at the site said that efforts were being made to locate the trapped people. Police said that a major portion of the building collapsed, partially damaging nearby buildings too.

According to the police, most of the injured were admitted to the Civil Hospital here.
