Dr. Balbir Singh, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Patiala Dehati in Punjab, is punished by the Ropar Court. The MLA, together with his wife and kid, is sentenced to three years in prison. However, he has been released on bail in the court itself as the sentence is been lowered. Dr. Balbir stated that he will file an appeal at the sessions court against the judgement.

Dr. Balveer Singh had a family quarrel. A complaint of assault was filed against him in this case in 2011. Along with these three, the MLA's land contractor has also been punished.

On June 13, 2011, a case was filed against Dr. Balbir Singh for distributing water on the field. The case was filed when his wife's sister Rupinderjit Kaur and her spouse Mewa Singh filed a complaint. He said that while watering his farms in Chamkaur Sahib, Dr. Balveer and other accused assaulted him.

MLA Dr. Balbir stated that the discussed land is in the name of his wife. A complaint was filed against him in 2011 due to his political activities. The High Court also granted him relief. They have accepted the Ropar court's judgement. He intends to appeal to the Sessions Court.

Dr. Balbir Singh was given a sentence of more than two years in prison. As a result, he is ineligible to continue serving as MLA under the rules. However, the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly, Kultar Sandhwan, must now decide whether he will remain an MLA or not. It's also feasible that his job could be saved for now by pointing to the Court of Session's appeal.
