In a big success against ISI-sponsored cross-border terror groups, Punjab Police, in a coordinated action with the central agency, retrieved a stash of terrorist equipment in an intelligence-based operation in the forested region along Tibba Nangal-Kular Road in SBS Nagar district, Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav stated on Tuesday.

The recovery comprised two rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), two improvised explosive devices (IEDs), five P-86 hand grenades, and one wireless communication set.

A preliminary probe suggested a coordinated operation by Pakistan's ISI and its allied terror groups to activate sleeper cells in Punjab, said DGP Yadav.

A first information report (FIR) under provisions of law has been registered at the State Special Operation Cell police station in Amritsar.

"An FIR under applicable provisions of law has been filed at PS State Special Operation Cell (#SSOC) Amritsar. @PunjabPoliceInd is determined to ensure national security and take down the terror infrastructure in the state," wrote the DGP on X.

Earlier, in a major counter-espionage drive, Amritsar Rural Police on Sunday arrested two individuals for their suspected involvement in passing sensitive information and photographs of army cantonment zones and air bases in Amritsar.

The duo who were arrested were Falaksher Masih and Suraj Masih, both natives of Balarhwal in Ajnala. They were passing on sensitive intelligence to Pakistan's intelligence agency.

Initial investigation showed their connections with Pakistani intelligence agents, made through Harpreet Singh, alias Pittu, alias Happy, who is presently in Amritsar Central Jail.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Amritsar Rural) Maninder Singh had stated both accused were engaged in gathering and sending vital information like Army movements, BSF camp locations, airport locations, photographs, and other sensitive information to their Pakistani handlers.

Acting quickly, an FIR was lodged at Ajnala police station under Sections 3, 5, and 9 of the Official Secrets Act, Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, and Section 61 (2) of BNS. The arrested persons are being thoroughly questioned.
