The six-episode thriller series Rudra the Edge of Darkness released on Disney + Hotstar on March 4. Ajay Devgn made his OTT debut with this series. He will be seen in the lead role as a super-cop. From Gangaajal to Singham, Ajay played the role of a cop in many movies. This will be the first-ever series to foray into the dynamic world of the Metaverse.

Rudra is the official Hindi remake of the British series Luther, which was created by Neil Cross. The original series is a psychological crime-thriller. As compared to Elba’s John Luther character, Ajay Devgn as Rudra is gloomy. The first three episodes of Rudra fail to leave a mark on the audience. There are no fancy cuts or unnecessary special effects. Scenes move at a brisk pace.

Ajay Devgn, being a show stealer with his heroic one-liners and superb dialogue delivery made the audience glued to their screens. "The concept of Rudra was intriguing for me. Rudra is a smart cop who uses his impeccable mind skills to stay ahead of criminals. He doesn't feel the need to use violence as a weapon. Instead, he is analytical and puts details first. Rudra is suave, nuanced and mindful and that's why I was drawn to him in the first place,” shared Ajay about his character.

The series also features Raashi Khanna, Esha Deol, Atul Kulkarni, Ashwini Kalsekar, Tarun Gahlot, Ashish Vidyarthi, and Satyadeep Misra in pivotal roles. The sizzling chemistry between Rudra and master criminal Aliyah (Raashi Khanna) is another reason to watch the series.

"It is the most difficult character I have played so far and it definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone. I hope the audience loves it as much as I loved playing it. I am also very grateful to be sharing screen space with a celebrated actor like Ajay Devgn sir,” shared Raashi.

On the other hand, Esha Deol looks a bit disconnected from her role. Esha Deol Takhtani as Rudra's ex-wife Shaila seems like an oddball in the series with an equally miss-matched partner in Satyadeep Misra's Rajiv.

'Rudra-The Edge of Darkness' is available exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar from 4th March 2022 in Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Bengali. The series directed by Rajesh Mapuskar and produced by Applause Entertainment in association with BBC Studios India,
