Russia has announced to build a ceasefire in Ukraine and a green corridor in Mariupol and Volnovakha to rescue people trapped in the war-torn areas of Ukraine. Now, this is a very important step in the direction of the evacuation of Indians. This ceasefire has come into effect from 11.30 AM IST as per reports.

Although the number of Indians in both these areas is very less, it is a good step towards peace. It is believed that after the second round of talks between Ukraine and Russia, an agreement has been reached to build this corridor.

Russia has announced that this ceasefire will start at 11.30, which has been done on humanitarian grounds so that ordinary citizens can be given a chance to leave.

The Russian Defense Ministry issued a statement saying, 'Today on March 5, at 10 am Moscow time, the Russian side is going to conduct a ceasefire.  Russia is going to open humanitarian corridors in Mariupol and Volnovakha.

Ukraine held 3,700 Indian nationals hostage: Russia

Russia's Defense Ministry also said that the Ukrainian side has also agreed to this humanitarian corridor and ceasefire. Earlier, Russia accused Ukrainian citizens of forcibly holding more than 3,700 Indian nationals hostage in their various cities. Russia also said that its military was doing everything possible for the peaceful evacuation of foreign nationals.

Russian Permanent Representative Vasily Nebenzia said that extremists and extremists in Ukraine enjoy Western protection. "The number of foreign nationals being forcibly taken hostage by Ukrainian nationalists is staggering," he said. Kharkiv includes 3,189 citizens of India, 2,700 citizens of Vietnam, 202 citizens of China. Sumi includes 576 Indian nationals, 101 Ghanaians and 121 Chinese nationals.

India had demanded a ceasefire from Ukraine and Russia

PM Modi has so far held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin twice in this regard. India had demanded from Ukraine and Russia to give a chance to our citizens to leave and declare a ceasefire. A large number of Indians are still stuck in the areas of Ukraine adjacent to Russia where they need immediate help.

However as per the instructions of Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, 4 Union Ministers Hardeep Puri, Kiren Rijiju, General VK Singh and Jyotiraditya Scindia have reached the neighbouring countries of Ukraine. These ministers are ensuring the repatriation of Indian students from different countries.
